Custom Design by SimcoMedia
Fathoms Plus designs, creates and distributes one of the finest shellfish traps in the world. Our mission was to update their old FrontPage themed website to a more modern and efficient look while showcasing the video and photo galleries.
This project had several challenges whereas the videos were in an older style format requiring downloading in order to view. The photo gallery utilized thumbnails to send the visitor to a completely separate page with just the larger image displayed. Also, the larger images contained an unusual amount of white space causing the image dimensions and load time to be cumbersome.
Another element was creating a simple but efficient method of ordering the product. Since orders typically consisted of dozens or possibly hundreds of the traps it was not feasible to use a shopping cart and online checkout since shipping and handling would be off the charts in regards to costs. Due to the nature of this type of product each transaction would need to be handled personally. Therefore, an order/contact form was utilized that transmitted the critical data to the site owners so they could contact the individuals and consumate the transaction.
